Le modelage, technique la plus directe de mise en forme demeure le faconnage privilégié par Sergio. Dans son atelier dédié à la création, il donne forme à la terre qu’il travaille à même ses mains. Sergio alterne selon l’œuvre à effectuer entre un modelage par accumulation ou suppression de matière.

Souvent ses terres cuites restent brut, tel que la cuisson les traitre, mais il arrive a sergio de leurs donner un aspect satiné et d’influencer le coloris, a ce but il patine ses sculptures au lait et les finit au talc.

Modelling, the most direct shaping technique, remains Sergio’s preferred way of shaping. In his workshop, he gives shape to the clay that he works with his own hands using only a few basic and unconventional tools such as a piece of wood or a canteen knife. Depending on what needs to be done, Sergio alternates between modelling by accumulation or elimination of material.

Often his terracotta remains raw, just as it is after firing, but sometimes Sergio will give his sculptures a satin appearance and influence the color, using a milk glaze and a talc finish.
