Après avoir choisi le bloc adéquat, Sergio le dégrossi à l’aide d’une meuleuse pour s’approcher de la surface finale. La dernière couche d’épaisseur est ôtée grâce à des meules et râpes avant d’être retouchée au papier verre. Le matériau est poli au stade d’une pureté́ maximale.
Marble cutting consists of rough-hewing a stone to extract the chosen shape while retaining a grain that reveals the beauty of this noble material. After choosing the appropriate block, Sergio rough-hews it with a grinder to approach the final surface. The last centimetre of thickness is removed with grinding wheels and diamond rasps before finishing with sandpaper. The material is polished to the point of maximum purity, with a raw and understated finish.
